USC Events’ Lucky Festival Promises to Enchant

As the cold tendrils of winter start to fall away in response to the sun’s hesitant peek-a-boo games, festival-goers around the Pacific Northwest are awakening from their winter hibernation in anticipation for festival season.

USC Events is hosting their annual spring massive, Lucky, on March 12 at the Tacoma Dome. Boasting world class artists such as Dada Life, Steve Aoki, W&W, Lucky promises to enchant attendees from the moment they cross the threshold from real-life into the realm of festival fairyland.

Trance fans seem to have gained the luck of the Irish as well, as the Anjunabeats North American Tour 2016 is making a special stop in Tacoma to join the Lucky festivities. We can thank our lucky stars that artists such as Andrew Bayer, Arty, ilan Bluestone, Grum, Super8 & Tab, and Jason Ross will be there to take us to trance heaven.

Other featured artists include Andy C, Armanni Reign, Aryay, Crizzly, Crnkn, Ghastly, Kill The Noise, Luminox, MAKJ, Mr. Bill x KJ Sawka Live, Rain Man, and Zomboy. With such an impressive line-up, there’s a lot to be excited for, but personally, I’m stoked to see Rain Man live for the first time without Krewella.

Be sure to get there early to check out the Pacific Northwest’s local artists who will be there to charm us and set the tone for a great night- Cartographer, Disco Lemonade, and Innit.

Dada Life will be bringing their electro/progressive house sounds all the way from Sweden. The duo is known for their festival antics. In 2013, they broke the Guinness World Record for world’s largest pillow fight at a Dada Life Compound event in Chicago, and at their July 2015 festival, Dada Land: The Voyage, they broke the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest gathering of people dressed as fruit.

Furthermore, while Aoki no longer throws cakes at shows, he will be throwing down his electro house beats. He was ranked the highest grossing dance artist in North America from tours, and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronica Album in 2013. Be sure to keep an eye out for Aoki in the upcoming documentary, I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead.

The third headlining act, W&W, is said to offer a mix of the melodic elements of trance with the intensity of electro and progressiveness of house. I’ve seen them at various Ultra events around the world, and they always put on an amazing show.

Attendees should remain cognizant of their surroundings, look out for fellow ravers, and please, make sure to stay hydrated. When preparing your beautiful outfits full of sparkle and flair, shining green and gold, be sure to note USC’s policy regarding backpacks and fanny packs- all fanny packs or backpacks must be made of clear plastic. This one almost caught me at my first USC event, and it would be a shame to meticulously plan your outfit, only to leave a major accessory behind with security. Don’t forget to check out the entire list of guidelines to ensure you’re completely prepared for your night of enchantment.

Whether you’re already suffering from March Madness or suspect that leprechauns are full of shenanigans, be sure to grab your squad and prepare to be charmed at Lucky. Don’t miss out on the magic- grab your Lucky ticket today.
